A campaign encouraging businesses in the Mansfield and Ashfield area to donate spare personal protective equipment (PPE) to support NHS and key service workers dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic has made an impressive start.

Martin Rigley MBE, Managing Director of Lindhurst Engineering Ltd in Sutton in Ashfield, who is spearheading the #ppe4nhs campaign said:

“Through the magnificent good nature and generosity of businesses across Mansfield and Ashfield, we’ve now handed around 15,000 items of PPE, to be used by NHS staff and key workers in Nottinghamshire. We’re delighted with the response of the local business community and know there’s more to come – please keep the donations coming.”

Tony Holmes, who runs the Foxglove pub in Mansfield, donated 3,000 disposable aprons. “I’m delighted to support this excellent initiative” said Tony, “because of the restrictions, we’re shut currently, so the NHS needs our PPE far more than we do at the moment – we want to do our bit for such a worthy cause and would urge other businesses to do the same”.

The project has now been widened to include all of Nottinghamshire. As Campaign Co-ordinator Malcolm Healey explains, “we’re so pleased with the response from businesses in Mansfield and Ashfield, that we’ve now expanded the project to cover the whole of Nottinghamshire. If we can generate that much support in one local area, the potential to do so much more across the county is huge! We’re asking all businesses in Nottinghamshire to support our campaign by donating any PPE they can spare”
