Southwell Racecourse and Golf Club
Southwell Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located near Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. It is one of only four racecourses in the UK to have an all-weather track and is the only one with a fibresand surface. Fibresand is a mixture of sand and wispy fibres.
The racing is also of significance. The now unique fibres and racing surface is quite deep and so makes the track a good stamina test. Ability to stay the distance and fitness are therefore big advantages at Southwell. The track also often features many of the most hardworking jockeys throughout the winter, as well as plenty of high-profile stars from time to time.
Southwell Golf Club is renowned for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere to both members and visitors alike, both on the course and in our spacious clubhouse that was first opened in 2007 where you can relax both before and after your game, enjoy the first class facilities and excellent food and drink on offer.
The club was founded in 1993, on the estate of the popular Southwell Racecourse, some 2 miles from Southwell and 5 miles from the market town of Newark. The front nine holes are located in the centre of the racecourse and features our signature hole, the 7th, a straightforward par 3 – as long as you ignore the water between the tee and the island green – our equivalent to the 17th at Sawgrass!!!
