Welcome to the John Fretwell Sporting Complex
Managed by the Warsop Sporting Trust, the John Fretwell Sporting Complex in Sookholme, nr Mansfield, is host to a number of sporting fixtures throughout the year, with facilities for bowling, cricket and football.
The trust is operated by volunteers from local organisations and businesses, and its main aim is to not only maintain the venue, but to promote sport in the local community, in schools and clubs and young people today and in the future.
We’re able to offer two full size cricket grounds, a six-lane outdoor grass practice area, two-lane artificial pitch practice area, two full-size football pitches and two mini football pitches, six-rink bowling green including a designated changing room, a purpose-built indoor cricket centre including state-of-the-art video cameras and bowling machines, and four large changing rooms.
We’ve hosted a number of high profile matches through our relationship with Notts County Cricket Club with a four-day test match scheduled for June 2019, as well as supporting a number of local junior teams for cricket and football, and a senior bowls club.
More than a sporting venue…
Alongside our sporting facilities, we’re able to offer modern rooms for hire, for a variety of public and private events throughout the year. Choose from our sports bar with views onto the cricket grounds, or our function suite which can be fully-dressed and tailored to suit your needs. Our hardworking team are here to ensure that your requirements are exceeded, and have experience in overseeing a whole host of events.
Weddings
Each year we host two wedding fairs and invite our favourite suppliers in to help you realise your dreams for your big day. We’re able to offer weddings throughout the year (subject to availability) and are able to accommodate most requests – just speak to us!
Conferences
We can provide conference facilities for up to 80 people in our lounge bar, and 300 delegates in our main function room – included is the use of a projector, screen and PA system.
