During the current situation it can be hard to remember to look for the positives but here at M&A 2020 we have a bit of a radar for them and are continuously looking for ways to help our members raise their profiles and get their names out in the wider business community.
This may be through promoting some great community work or by presenting them as an expert in their subject area. Another way is by shouting about any business milestones such as a birthday/anniversary. It could be one year or 20! It really doesn’t matter. We want to hear from you.
The disruption caused by COVID has meant that we are busy keeping our nose to the grindstone and working hard to manage the day to day, perhaps learning new skills or working with our teams remotely, preparing the workplace to be a safe place for employees and staff, so that something such as an anniversary just disappears into the background.
Celebrations have become muted due to restrictions on social contact meaning that instead of getting the team together for a party and a meal, you may have just had a very low-key in-house mention of the moment.

We would like to make some noise for you

Anniversaries in business are important, it provides a great chance for you to reflect on how far you’ve come both as a business and as a business owner. Where did you start? Why did you set up? Have you changed the way you run your business or even the products/services you offer? Do you now have staff, and did you know when you started that you would have a team of people? What would you do differently if you had the chance to start again? What do your customers say about you? Do they return time after time? All of these things make your business work and telling this story can help potential customers/suppliers identify with you.

A great example of this is the Mansfield Building Society, this year is their 150thAnniversary, they still operate with Mansfield at the heart of their business delivering great personal service to their customers whilst continuing to grow and expand with new product offerings and branches. They have adapted over the years to suit their customer’s needs and the changing technological landscape but still put the customer first, when we compare this to some of the national high street names, they have a lot to celebrate! Not only that but they have also stepped up to help where they can in the local area during the lockdown. This type of community work isn’t new to them, it’s an important part of their business ethos.
