Our local foodbanks are seeing a huge surge in demand. Covid has brought all sorts of extra challenges to so many people in our community. We have people who are losing their jobs but who have already used the reserves they had this year and whilst there is government help available, this can take a while to be made available.
We have elderly people whose support network are currently not allowed to visit and help them. We have families who are having to make heart breaking decisions about their family pets as they cannot afford to feed them.
Our food banks are helping these people out during these difficult times but they need our help.
If you are able to help out, donations of non-perishable food (including some pet food) are always very welcome.
Alternatively the foodbanks are always looking for help with deliveries if you are able to just donate your time. Furloughed staff are allowed to volunteer and this could be a very rewarding use of your time.
All help would be very gratefully received.
