On behalf of Mansfield Rotary Club and the Armchair Club I am delighted to share with you the news that our third Charity Swimathon is taking place on Saturday 9th October. Last year’s event, run under strict Covid19 restrictions, was a huge success raising just under £6000.
Can you support the efforts of Mansfield Rotary Club and the Armchair Club as we continue to help local people during these very difficult times? Hopefully you might consider getting involved and in doing so raise money for a charity of your choice. Perhaps you can get friends or work or club colleagues to join you and enter a team or help sponsor the event?
Here’s how you can you help.

  1. Enter a team from your business
  2. Swim as an individual
  3. Persuade your family or work colleagues to swim as a team
  4. If you support a local Charity, encourage them to enter a team
  5. Become a Sponsor:

Options are:

  1. a) sponsor a Lane @ £50 – our MC will announce your sponsorship and you can place a pull up banner at the back of the lane you sponsor.
  2. b) sponsor one of the “pros”, we are hopeful that Rebecca Adlington, Charlotte Henshaw, and Elliott Clogg will once again be able to take part and we have asked Sam & Olly Hynd too. You can sponsor one of them by making a fixed donation of either £10 / £25 / £50 or by the number of lengths they swim at 10p / 25p / 50p or £1 for each length swum

Participation in last year’s event exceeded the first year’s entries and we are optimistic of building still further on this great event. You can download the forms that you will need here: https://www.armchairclub.org/swimathon/
Last year the team from local estate agency Pinewood Properties raised £310, Wynndale Primary School raised £438, Sutton Swimming Club raised £1119 and North Notts Junior Hockey Academy raised £330 with many more groups and individuals all enjoying taking part and raising money.
Mansfield District Leisure Trust (MDLT) have again generously confirmed their sponsorship of the event by providing the facilities free of charge and providing the necessary lifeguard support. Importantly MDLT have confirmed, that under the current Government guidelines for Covid19, that they are happy for the event to take place given that swimmers are booked in for specific times and can safely be socially distanced. Of course, we are optimistic that by October most, if not all, restrictions will have been lifted anyway.
Hopefully you might consider participating and in doing so raise money for a charity of your choice. Perhaps you can get friends or work or club colleagues to join you and enter a team?
