Inspirational business leaders are encouraging companies in Mansfield and Ashfield to submit entries into the area’s most prestigious business awards.

The highly-proactive networking and business group Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 has now opened its 2022 awards scheme.

There are nine categories to choose from, and applications must be submitted by email by midnight on Sunday 10th April 2022.

Independent judges will interview shortlisted companies on Monday, April 25 or Wednesday, April 27, with finalists announced on May 3.

Winners will be announced at the glamorous 2020 Awards and Ball which takes place at the John Fretwell Centre on Friday, June 24.

Kelly Wilson, who owns Mansfield-based Touch of Charm wedding stylists, last year won the Entrepreneurial Spirit title.

She said: “The awards event was amazing, and it was such a shock to win the title itself. Winning an award has made such a positive difference to us and has helped us to become even more established.”

Since winning the award, Kelly has expanded her business into new premises on the Old Mill Lane Industrial Estate and has opened a blossoming floristry business.

Also winning last year was Your Home Care, a domiciliary care provider run by Scot Marsh and Paul Pitchford.

Your Home Care took home the Customer Focus Initiative, and the New Business of the Year awards. It was the first time one company has taken two top accolades on the same night.

Scott said: “The Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 awards has been a great platform for Your Home Care and has allowed us to boost our reputation in the Health & Social Care sector and the local business community.

“Being the first company to win two awards on the night in its 30-year history is truly amazing and goes to show that hard work really does pay off. We are also the first care company to win an award at these awards which we are delighted about.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our tireless workforce for helping win these awards.”

The 2020 Annual Business Awards and Ball gathers more than 280 leading local business people to recognise the achievements of the local business community.

Jane Box, chair of Mansfield 2020 said: “This year our judges will be looking at how businesses have continued to adapt in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic.

“It might be that they have learned to work in new and innovative ways to comply with the ever-changing restrictions. Maybe a business has been able to identify new market opportunities and worked quickly to meet demand, or perhaps the pandemic forced them to adapt in totally unexpected ways.

“Essentially, we want to champion, showcase, and celebrate the work that people of this area do.”

Entering the awards is really simple, with three steps to follow.

Firstly, people should go to M&A 2020 website here and select the category they wish to enter and follow the guidelines under each heading to match their organisation with the most appropriate category. (Businesses can enter up to three categories but must send individual entries for each category).

They should then download the application form and follow the guidelines provided, and, finally, email application forms by midnight on Sunday April 10,  2022.
