Following requests from local businesses, Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 have launched some additional events to create a more diverse membership and provide support for more local business.
2020 Women in Business was the first new monthly event and has been running since November 2021. The meeting is attended by almost 50 women each month and has proven very popular. With the opportunity for guests to introduce themselves to the room and our positive Wednesday Wins, which sees the women nominate each other for growth and achievement in their business journey, many of the guests have really benefitted from the format.
There is a sponsor speaker from a local business each month and tables are invited to discuss business challenges and receive tips and support from their peers. The relaxed environment has been well received and we have seen some of our guests grow in confidence as a result.
Last month saw the first ever 2020 Pie and Pint evening at The Junction in Sutton in Ashfield, much to the surprise of the organisers, there were 40 local businesses in attendance and guests came from several industries including engineering, manufacturing, and tradespeople. Members and first-time visitors really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere as we were able to take advantage of the glorious weather and the venues enclosed garden space.
Once the 60 second introductions were made, and the flurry of activity for various business cards was over, the staff at The Junction delighted everyone with some delicious grub, including lasagne, chilli and cheese and onion pie.
One of our guests was delighted that they had been able to make an appointment with a business that they had been trying to connect with for over 18 months. We had some new young professionals that had never tried networking before and really enjoyed it. The event was a hit with all that attended.
As usual, we will take a break from our events calendar for the month of August whilst everyone heads off on their summer holidays but look out for news of our next events due to begin again in September.
