Last year Ashfield won £70m of government funding through the Towns Fund and Future High Streets Funds. With our partners we have already put that funding to work supporting business and a new wave of entrepreneurs. Fundamental to our programme is the ambition to improve the District’s educational offer, with initiatives that promote core skills in digital literacy to our young people, as well as the adult population. Included are brand new facilities for creative space, construction and civil engineering, as well as the flagship projects; the Sherwood Observatory, ( bringing the ‘Science of the Universe’ to our young people) and the ‘Automated Manufacturing and Distribution Centre’ which will support businesses across the region to develop automation to increase productivity.

We are working on ambitious projects to better serve our urban and rural communities, to ensure they are connected and can accommodate the working patterns of the future – whilst being able to celebrate the new leisure centres, open spaces, parks, rides and walks on our doorstep, to provide for a healthy, balanced life. It’s been a challenging time for businesses but having provided supported throughout the pandemic we are keen to ensure Ashfield is clearly ‘open for business’.
