Wellow Exiles Cricket Club has received a £300 donation from Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme.

Following a successful application to the scheme, the club has been awarded the funds needed to replace equipment. Wellow Exiles was established over 30 years ago and prides itself on being a friendly club – not just being a team for players but for their families too.

Not having a home ground for the club means they have used various local grounds and have amassed many players from across Mansfield, Bilsthorpe, Edwinstowe and Ollerton as a result.

Andrew Bunting, Club Secretary and Treasurer, explained:

“As a club we endeavour to be as inclusive as possible, and for us that includes doing all we can to make the sport accessible to players from all walks of life. For a variety of reasons, many are not in a position to have their own equipment and this donation enables us to replace well-worn sets of pads, and other kit, allowing us to continue lending them to players.”

Richard Crisp, Commercial Development Executive at the Mansfield, commented:

“The Society’s Community Support Scheme is there to support the aims of groups just like Wellow Cricket Club, widening the net of accessibility across our Heartland Area. This donation is a win for the club and our local communities, and we’re proud to support the clubs flexible approach towards supporting their players and families.”
