Well here we are, Winter is over, and the first shoots of Spring are pushing through. The weather looks like it is improving (hoping for the Spring weather we encountered last year), the Government have given us a roadmap to the start of normality and the national effort involved in rolling out the vaccination process is more than admirable.
We at Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 continue our efforts to support local businesses in as many ways as we can.
Our recent virtual networking events have seen a variety of new visitors, which is both pleasing and refreshing.
This week we held our February breakfast meeting where we had Nigel Clough, the Mansfield Town FC Manager, answering questions around sport and business leadership amongst a number of other topics. It was an interesting session which I believe was very useful and I thank Nigel on behalf of the board of M&A 2020 along with our members and visitors for his time, open and honest responses and for an insight into the world of football.
We as businesses can take points of note around empathetic approaches to staff engagement, building your own and your teams characters based on learning the best from those you encounter and work with, the challenges faced in maintaining high levels of confidence and having the ability to make the tough decisions no matter how unsavoury they may seem.
Week commencing 1st March we are holding two events to enlighten businesses about some of the fantastic apprenticeship providers around the area who could assist you in getting young people into your organisation. Take a look and book your place here.
We will be holding two free virtual JUST networking events and a breakfast meeting that includes a Bank of England perspective on the UK economy. You can find details of how to book here.
Conversations are being held on how we as a group may be able to support the local retail sector as re-opening to footfall draws near. Please look out for more information on our website and in our newsletter for all these events
The board of M&A 2020 continue to challenge each other in our three-pillar groups of networking, business support and skills & enterprise as to how we can best continue to support and assist with local economic recovery. As always, your comments are more than welcome to help us shape the new year from April onwards.
This may well be challenging times for many, but as always, my belief is that if we work together, we can do great things.
I do hope you continue to support our efforts and our virtual events with the experience of face to face seemingly now getting a little closer and even better if you were to become members so we can work with you to make sure Mansfield & Ashfield communities thrive.

Onwards and upwards
Gary Jordan
