September 2021 – where have the last 20 months or so gone?

Challenging times have been encountered and for many managed extremely well.

Obviously, there are still challenges ahead, but with the resilience of the Mansfield and Ashfield communities and with a collaborative mindset, they can be dealt with, and we can move forward together into better times.

Our hard work supporting businesses during these troubled times bore fruit at our first face to face breakfast meeting at Portland college this morning.

I would like to extend on behalf of myself and the M&A 2020 Board our sincere thanks and gratitude for your support both through the virtual events, membership and this face to face event where some 70 business people enjoyed a convivial breakfast environment and learned more of what our local authorities have been doing to gain much needed funds to deliver a series of fantastic projects that will make the area as a whole a better place to live, work and enjoy life.

On that note I would also like to thank Cllr Matthew Relf (ADC) and Mayor Andrew Abrahams (MDC) for delivering their presentations, to give those not in the know, an insight into things occurring at this moment in time.

Thanks also go out to Ella McManus who continues to work behind the scenes to put together all things M&A 2020, to Jane Box for again leading the morning and to AdB Audio Visual for the support behind the scenes and to Portland College, our hosts.

And to you the members and visitors who made it a great start for getting us back to some normality.

We continue to look for any means of offering support to the membership, the wider business and social communities and our local authorities and, as such, I always ask if you can feed back any comments on what would make our events even bigger and better or what may help you and your business.

I ask you as members to continue to engage with us and to bring along prospective new members, so that we can grow into a larger voice of all things business, support many more organisations, and help our local economy growth.

As part of that process, I ask on a regular basis that we support local business where possible and when it is appropriate think outside the box and collaborate.

Our next breakfast meeting is hopefully going to be very special as we launch our updated website and celebrate 30 years of supporting the business community. It would be good to see you all on Thursday 14thOctober. Register here.

I said in my last statement that it would be fantastic if we could get further engagement with manufacturing, engineering, and retail businesses as they form a large part of the heart of our economy.

Should you know anyone who would get something from joining us then get them to come along and meet us so that we can give them more relevant information that may well encourage them to get involved.
