Nottingham University are organising an event called Routes into China for the Languages for Business Project in partnership with the Asia Business Centre and the Nottingham Confucius Institute.
The event is being held on Monday 2nd July at the Nottingham Contemporary from 9.00am until 2.00pm. The aim of the event is to provide local SMEs with practical insight around routes into Chinese markets and outline the initiatives offered by the University:
There will be a range of key presentations and workshops, including:

  • I Chat, You Chat, WeChat: Social eCommerce on China’s 1 Billion User Platform’ –Tong Digital offer practical steps to setting up, managing and promoting a store on WeChat
  • Making friends and influencing people- Top tips for a successful business meeting, and strategies for building strong relationships needed for successful business ventures in China
  • Identifying Market Opportunities: How and Why? As well as the importance of undertaking research into potential markets and routes to market, this session outlines initiatives offered by the University (including free student placements) to support SMEs in this area. Hear from students and employers who have benefitted from these initiatives.
  • Chinese Business Language Taster Session- Learn some basic phrases and expressions relevant to Chinese business contexts

Free four-hour follow-up taster session offered to every delegate. Choose from:

  • cultural etiquette
  • language learning
  • mentoring
