Many of you will know 2020 supporter Mike Farley and remember his wife Carol or Cazi. Sadly, Cazi died of breast Cancer in 2013 and since that time Mike has dedicated himself to raising funds to support Cancer Research UK in its vital research into fighting Breast Cancer.
Mike has achieved great things and sent us the following update. A brilliant result and achievement by Mike and also the very generous local people who have supported him.
Mike writes:
The ‘Shine 4 Cazi’ Ball went incredibly well with 151 people attending. The atmosphere was fantastic everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I have had lots of positive feedback from people they are asking if I am going to do it again next year!!! The Band, “The Hypertones”, were brilliant very good musicians and vocally brilliant too so I would thoroughly recommend them. They had the dance floor full all the time which is always a good sign. It was very hard work organising it all so I am glad it worked out so well.
I was very grateful to Nick Linney as Linneys sponsored and printed the Commemorative Programme of the event for me, and also very grateful to Tony Adams de Banke (AdB Audio Visual Ltd) for his advice and sorting all the staging and lighting for the event it really made the room look incredible.
I had a Supercar Draw for the chance to drive two Supercars, a Live Auction with the opportunity to experience a flight in a Vintage Tiger Moth, an England Rugby squad team shirt signed by all the 2018 squad along with a certificate of authenticity, and also a VIP experience for two at Newcastle United including A la Carte meal, Champagne, in the Chairman’s Box along with meet the celebrities. I also had a Silent Auction with lots of really good items including an original Watercolour painting, cookery course, a number of 4 Ball golfing sessions at Sherwood, Coxmoor, Rufford and The Nottinghamshire, an original signed swimsuit from a former Olympic Silver Medallist, Liz Earle Cosmetics Gift sets amongst other things. I also had a general raffle with lots of really good prizes. The support I had from the many companies who donated items was simply incredible.
Thanks to the very generous corporate sponsors and donors of Auction Lots & Raffle Prizes, as follows:

In the end I was absolutely astounded with how much I managed to raise, in the end I raised a total of just over £5,700 plus the £2,200 I raised from my 5th Shine Marathon means I have raised around £7,900 in total this year. This means that over the last 5 years I have raised around £24,900 which has smashed my original £20,000 target.
Please pass on my very grateful thanks to 2020 supporters for support in helping to promote the Ball. I hope I have made Cazi proud, we have certainly create a fantastic legacy in Cazi’s name.
