A north Nottinghamshire based charity which provides help to families who are struggling socially and financially have received a donation of £817 from The Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme for a promotional marquee.

From the Heart Charity is a non-profit organisation located in Worksop. It was created by a small team of people who saw local families caught in a cycle of persistent poverty which in many cases results in issues such as poor mental and physical health.

From the Heart’s aim is to provide vulnerable people with a care network that suits their needs. This involves visiting families and educating them on how to lead a healthy lifestyle and directing them to specific support groups. The charity continues to work with families until they become self-sufficient.

Heather McGlone volunteer at From the Heart Charity said “The donation from the Mansfield Building Society will allow us to attend and be noticed at a range of local events. By being more accessible, members of our community will recognise us as a local charity that cares about their wellbeing.

Without the funding from The Mansfield, it would have taken us a long time to have the additional funds to purchase the gazebo. Most of our donated funds go to helping others. It was great to have funding for something that will allow us to reach more people.”

Vickie Preston, HR Manager at the Society, met the volunteers and said “From the Heart give great support to local families in need.  It was wonderful to meet them and find out how important it is to have this type of charity in the area. They’re doing fantastic work and really helping people.”

Mansfield Building Society’s Community Support Scheme funds local groups and organisations in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and meets twice yearly in May and November to consider applications. To find out more visit  https://mansfieldbs.co.uk/in-the-community/community-support-scheme.
