Views sought on Draft Hucknall Town Masterplan

The revised Hucknall Town Centre Masterplan will replace the Masterplan for Hucknall undertaken by Urbed for the Council in 2009. The updated Masterplan aims to provide a high-level framework for future investment and development which maximises the opportunities for Hucknall in reference to culture, transport and tourism and capitalises on its existing assets. In particular it:

• Provides a consensus and common understanding of Hucknall Town Centre as a place – its character and identity.
• Establishes a clear vision for Hucknall town centre, to guide its development and improvements.
• Provides clear design principles for subsequent new development or projects, with an emphasis on sustainability.
• Identifies sites and buildings where redevelopment and improvements will be encouraged.
• Aims to improve links to and within the town centre for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users.
• Provides an evidence base for the Council’s emerging Local Plan.

The Masterplan is not inflexible or prescriptive, and it is not intended to provide detailed projects or design solutions. It does not provide a commitment by the Council to fund but provides a framework for investment, where funding can be sought to take the Masterplan forward.

Where can I view the Masterplan? 

The Masterplan will be available on the Council website at  https://www.ashfield.gov.uk/hucknall-masterplan    Paper copies of the Masterplan are available to view during normal opening hours at Main Council Offices at Kirkby-In-Ashfield, Hucknall Leisure Centre  and the libraries at Hucknall, Huthwaite, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Selston, Skegby and Sutton-In-Ashfield.

As part of the consultation process, the Forward Planning Team will be hosting drop-in sessions around Hucknall at:

• Downloading and completing the Consultation Representation Form from the Council website.  The completed form should then be either emailed to: [email protected] or posted to the address below.

• Posting a letter to: Forward Planning Team, Ashfield District Council, Urban Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, NG17 8DA.

Responses will be made public and a summary of the main issues raised from the consultation and how those issues have been addressed will be made available on the Council’s website.
